np: Bjork 5 Years
5 Years is such a lovely song. I want it to be my Draco/Ginny song, but it works equally well for Harry/Ginny. The horror. It's mostly a girl saying her love interest can't handle love. Better for Draco/Ginny, yesh. Way to convince self, Jae. Magical powers, wheeeee.

Bjork is the offical musician for my Ginny fic. So much quirky, angry grrrrl rage. (And Placebo/New Order vie for official HP slash musician. Although, I think that New Order is terribly Draco/Ginny. Or perhaps even Draco/Ron. Yes, isn't that so not like me? I'm toying with maybe writing it. I think that Draco/Ron would amuse me so much more. Besides, I need a redhead, somewhere. I didn't watch Thornbirds like Sabina. But I did read Anne of Green Gables. Close 'nuff. XD

Would it be strange if Ginny went abroad to Iceland for a year? Yes, perhaps Bjork is influencing me a bit here, but people in Iceland are super chill and not into celeberties. We could explain that away by having them all be wizards and witches. Because for some reason I remember reading somewhere that a lot of the one hit wonders of the Muggle world were really wizards casting spells on the unknowing populace. Ha, muggles. XD And there are an awful lot of bands in Iceland. But I want that more for background to write about Ginny's fifth year. Maybe I would write the fourth year as a later prequel. But that would be work. Thinking of a name, making up original characters. Are there dragons in Iceland? Maybe Draco should just follow her there anyways. XD Hmm, must post more chibis. Else people will think I'm favouring Tomoyo and Eriol over em.

Eriol: But you do wub me more than anyone else.
Jae: Do not!
Eriol: Do so!
Jae: Do not, do not, do not!!!
Eriol: XD
Tomoyo: *shakes her head*
Draco puppet: When do they not argue?
Hatoko: 'Touchan~! *glomps*

The voices are sad and lonely, cos I haven't been playing with them. Awww. We'll play more later, dearies. XD

np: Pet Shop Boys Boys and Girls
*_* There is something strangely RIGHT about them doing a cover of this song. I may have to put it on my Eriol x Tomoyo soundtrack. But I think it might just be better for Draco x Harry. But I refuse to make a soundtrack for them. XD
I haven't been ficcing or doing very much research. So alas, I haven't been posting much. The temptation is too great. I need to get on top of my shaite, and this is a distraction, albeit a pleasant one. However, it seems that some people are working on fun fic, so don't worry. XD I have started writing the third chapter. I have a page. But now we're getting into heavy Tomoyo's perspective and that's bloody hard to write. No ramblings as of yet. Saw the movie again. Ron is such a cheeky ickle thing. Ginny spoke! She did! Malfoy has such a wunderbar drawl. ^_^ Wub, wub, wub. Must finish ExT so I can begin Ginny~! <3 <3 <3

*_*

Twit-sama has begun plotting Draco/Ginny fic. Thanks to my sl0ring. I may die a happy fangrrrl now.

Eriol: No, you may not. I need fic!
Jae: XD

Oh, and the second chapter of A Young Man's Fancy is out. Er, poke about here. I have it under doc and txt format. More soon, hopefully. In the meanwhile, I really want a picture of Ginny, but a particular picture. I got the image from Draco Veritas. Charlie, her brother, is teaching Defense against the Dark Arts, and he as a picture of her in a white sundress, blowing kisses. However, I don't know if I could describe to someone what I want. I do know however, that Nocchi has the right look. So I've been staring at hentai love sim artwork for inspiration. And I can't draw a bloody lick. Ah well. The things we fangrrls will do. XD

np: Fruits Basket OP Chiisana Inori

I've been doing a lot Brit-link searching. Partially to prepare myself for my Eriol and Tomoyo go to uni in Scotland (I am toying with switching for Glasgow, which seems slightly more appropriate for some reason, but I've actually been to Edinburgh and it is a bigger city.) and Harry Potter fics. I knew some stuff vaguely from my semester abroad at UEA, but seeing as how I only have passing familiarity, gotta do research. I am anal. I can't help it. And things like slang are important to me.

This link offers a very nice explanation of the British education system. I knew how it worked vaguely, but now I know how it really works. And we thought the British Council didn't do jack.
The quintessential boarding school- Eton Yes, Hogswarts is co-ed. But the whole writing the name down when the baby is born, that is so old skool Eton. But the wearing of the cloaks is a bit more Oxbridge. Tho they're called gowns. XD (I never did like that smooshing together. The two are distinct. Like Harvard and Yale. And Princeton. But there are only two schools smooshed together in Oxbridge, not three.)
Guide to British Universities- Helpful if you want to get a better sense of unis. Not as good as going to them or having friends there, but I'd really rather not repeat undergrad again, thanks for asking.
British English links list- Really long and phenomenonal. I <3 this page. And the quizzes. Which were great fun. I didn't do too badly. ^^

And speaking of slang and British English, I just thought I would discuss something. As can be seen from my blog, I mostly particpate in fandoms for British and Japanese works, whereas I am Korean-American. To say that I have to be British or Japanese to be a fan of Harry Potter or CCS is silly and prolly essentialist. And clearly not true. But what about fanworks? Or fanfiction, in my case, since we know I can't draw. Can you write good fanfiction in American English for Japanese (CCS) and British (HP) works? The answer is of course yes. (Duh)

But I have this weird standard or approach that I would call hypocritical. Blatantly American language in fics for non-American works irk me. It bothers me more with HP ficcage than it does with CCS ficcage. This is in part because it's easier for me to know British English than it is for me to learn Japanese. In fact, I know British English loads better than I know Japanese. XD And it's easier for Americans to learn British English than it is to learn Japanese. But is it fair for me to demand extra work in HP fic? When I'm not even sure I can do it perfectly myself? But then I realize that I'm not being fair. I'm stating my preferences. And I try my damnedest to meet my own standards. See those links up there? XD And I do enjoy HP fic that doesn't use British English? Sure. But to satisfy Jae's uber analness is excellence requires that extra effort. ^_^

But what really bothers me is half-assed attempts to incorporate language/slang in those fics by American authors. Japanese more so, because it's more obviously distracting. I use Japanese honorifics in my CCS fics, because those simply do not translate, but things like Good morning and thank you can be said in English. >< I'm very happy for you that you know otaku Japanese, but either write the whole thing in Japanese or write it all in English with maybe some things that don't translate into English 'tall. And even then, I'm a little leery, but I do it, so I gotta let you do it too, right? ^^ The half Britsh/half American slang is more subtle, but I might be more nit-picky because I've been an anglophile for far longer than I've been a fan of anime. XD But to call sweaters jumpers and sneakers trainers and then have your characters say "Cool" and "Awesome" ruin your efforts, dahlinks. Or it might just be me and my analness. But if you do choose to go all American, be careful of word puns and plays. Slang can be a tricky thing like that. And American English and British English do have tons of differnt slang terms. ^^

Postcript- I know I sound like a total ass, and I freely offer my hide to any Brit that reads this opinated bit of wankery. And would also love it if you beta-ed my HP fics, if I ever um start them.
